Best free online poker sites – Shuffle up and deal!

All Poker Players Welcome

Poker BeginnerIn the beginning when I started playing poker, I had no one to teach me any poker strategies and I used to open up accounts on any poker site I could find, because they were all giving away free money when you made a deposit. Since then I filtered it down to just a few sites, because I don’t need those start-up bonuses anymore and just want to play on the best sites and they all have something to bring to the table.

Sometimes I’m in the mood for a tourney and I have found that out of all the best free online poker sites, Pokerstars have the best tourneys with nice long blind levels. Full Tilt again have the best cash games and poker pros from all over the world can easily be engaged in an all nighter with well over a million bucks on the table between them.

In cash games, blinds typically range from $0.01/$0.02 for the beginners with a starting stack of $10, and all the way up to $500/$1000 for the more advanced and professional players with a starting stack of $50,ooo. It is not uncommon to see players sitting with $200k or $300k in front of them and once I even saw a professional called Phil Galfond starting with $250k and ended up with $1.3 Million, 8 hours later. Not bad making a cool million for just a day’s work.

If you are not into cash games, there are plenty of sit and go’s and tourneys to keep you busy. Buy-ins can range from $0.02 and all the way up to $5000, where you can play heads-up against 1 other person, a 4-handed table against 3 other opponents or anything up to a few thousand players in one tourney. I have once won a tourney with 3600 players and it took me just over 12 hours to take down first place and pocket the $35k after paying $80 to play. My biggest payday so far.

I won’t suggest playing for real money when you’re just starting out. All the best free online poker sites have cash games, sit and go’s and tourneys of all shapes and sizes for you to learn and hone your craft first. Poker is not an easy game and takes time to master, especially when there are millions of other players out there also trying to make it big. Playing for real money too soon might scare you off a game that’s well worth the rewards when you are able to play it properly.

As you go along and discover all these poker sites, you will have different preferences than I do and decide for yourself which ones you like and don’t like. My job for now is just to point you in the right direction and the list below of sites I prefer, will do just that. There are only four, but they are four of the very best.

Below in the comment box, I would love to hear about your experiences in playing on these sites. Please get in touch and let us know how you got on.

See you at the tables.

Cheers

Jaco

Pokerstars

As seen on TV, Pokerstars is the biggest online poker site in the world. Professional poker players from all over the world play here and if you’re lucky, you might find yourself in a game with them. Just click on the banner, make your first deposit and off you go.

PartyPoker

As seen on TV, another one of the worlds biggest online poker sites and used to be the biggest until 2006. They offer a 100% new player bonus up to $500. As with all other poker sites, they run cash games, sit&go’s and tourneys 24/7. You can always find a game there.

Bwin

As seen on TV and one of my favourite sites. Get a 100% bonus for your first deposit up to £200 and you’ll be on your way to riches. Just click on the banner and from there you can choose to play poker, bingo, do sports betting and play in the casino with so many games to chose from that you wouldn’t know where to start.

Titan Poker

As seen on TV, deposit €50 and get a €100 bonus on your first depsoit. That’s 200%!! One of the best deals I’ve found. And poker is not all they have. If you feel like a little distraction is in order, you can go play some slots, roulette or blackjack etc in the casino. Who says that you have to go to Vegas to hit the jackpot?

  1. Hi, Thanks for this list.

I have been hooked on poker since visiting Vegas last year. While online poker is not as good as doing it for real it’s still a lot of fun. I’m definitely an amateur and lose as much as I win but it’s great entertainment.

Thanks again, maybe I’ll see you at a “table” ?

    • Hi Steve, I also prefer live play, but I’m not always in the mood to travel for a game. Online is a great replacement and you get to play so much more hands.

Work your way through the manual and practice, practice, practice. 🙂

  2. Hi and thx for the list.
It’s been a long time since I last played but with sites like these available maybe it’s time to get back in the game..! Congrats on your 35k tourney win. Cheers, Mark.
